Hello people, how has your week been?
Mine is going well. So, while I was trusting God on what to share with you, something about Gideons came to heart.
Israel, which was God's beloved, went against God's heart for them so God allowed the Mideanites, which was their enemy, to begin working against them.
An angel appears to Gideon and after they had spoken for sometime, Gideon wanted to be sure who was speaking and he asked for a sign.
Judges 6:20-24 And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.
Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.
And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrite.
This gave him the courage to pull down his fathers altar of Baal.
Fast forward to Verse 37,Gideon starts to ask God again for a sign, whether or not he should go ahead and fight the medianities.
Gideon made sure to confirmed that it was God speaking to him. The bible says that he set a fleece.
Though setting fleece in this dispensation of the spirit of God living in the inside of us is not valid, its important for us to confirm with the spirit of God that certain actions are his path for us.
God's confirmation was all that Gideon needed to be unstoppable. He could have gone ahead to stick out his neck to fight the Mideanites simply because he had heard from God before. But he went back to God to be sure he heard Him right.
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us but our sufficiency is from God. 1Corinthians 3:5
There's a thin line between self sufficiency and God sufficiency. In self sufficiency, one stick out ones neck all by oneself. In God sufficiency, one stick out ones neck because one is backed by God. So that the driving force is God not self.
This gave Gideon the courage to gather men together to fight the Medianites.
Often times the confirmation of God is peace.
And you now may be asking how to check with the holyspirit.
Isaiah 55:12- You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Meaning if theres no peace or joy there, something is wrong somwhere. And it just may be a pointer for you to take a pause and ask questions for clarity.
Do have a lovely week ahead.
Peace✌✌
