There's something in my field of study that is called CBT, meaning Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The principle behind this therapy hinges on the fact that a person's behavior is a reflection of their thoughts, which also influences their feelings. That is, a person who has thoughts that tilt in the negative direction will be gloomy and ultimately act in keeping with this, and vice versa.
Thi pattern was proven in the way some Israelites perceived the people living in a land that God was going to give them. Their way of thinking determined their action and their lot. Caleb was one of the few who saw the enemy as a piece of cake and this was his ultimate experience.
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Numbers 13:27-31 KJV
God is so particular about the ways we think so much so that when Joshua was going to be leader over Israel, God specifically reminded him to ensure that the book of the law does not depart from him but that he meditates on it day and night. This meditation was the doorway to prosperity and great success. This means that the ruminations of a man's heart are determinants of the steps he takes, decisions he makes, how he behaves.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua 1:8 KJV
We are not left without what the source of our rumination should be...it's the word of God.
Get the word of God for your life and particular area of concern or challenge and keep ruminating on it. This is
one area that every child of God has to consitently do no matter how close to or deep we are in God.
I pray that in this year than ever before we find the strength to stay and just meditate. ...the meditations of greatness in Jesus name, Amen!!
Love & Light.
