The Parent Factor!

We live in a time and age where everyone wants to define things by themselves, have minds of their own and make decisions or take steps all by themselves without been interrupted in anyway. Whilst this is a great feat, it begins to tilt in the wrong direction when certain elders cannot intervene in the affairs of your life. Today I want to share about the role of parents on our lives. I’ve been doing a bit of bible study in that direction and its incredible the light that keeps sinning in my path.
Samson in the bible was a great man. The bible says that he was filled with the Holy Spirit from his birth. He was known right from time that he was going t be a super strong man in the community. He grew up to be one of Israel’s judges. However when it was time for him to take a woman for a wife, he went for a philistine woman. His warned him not to go for the philistine woman because the philistines were pagans. However he refused. I like how contemporary English Version puts it, it says- Judges.14:3b-‘…”She looks good to me,” Samson answered. ”Get her for me!”
Although Samson was spirit filled and won many battles, I believe that one of the reasons he died with his enemies was because he didn’t have anyone in the place of instruction that he obeyed regardless.
David who ended up becoming the king of Israel and fought several battles for Israel was a man subject to his parents-father to be more specific. 1Samuel 14, David was ending his father’s sheep in the bush when he was a sent for to be anointed. He was sent by his father to go give his brothers and the commander of the army some food when he came in contact with the opportunity to kill Goliath (1Samuel.17).
It was so beautiful when I read closely the case of Jesus and his parents- Luke.2:49-52.
49-Jesus answered,” Why did you have to look for me? Didn’t you know that I would be in my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what he meant. 51-Jesus went back to Nazareth with his parents and obeyed them. His mother kept on thinking about all that had happened. 52- Jesus became wise, and he grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people. (CEV)
Having wanted to have his own way, he rearranged himself and went back to Nazareth with his parents. I believe that there is something about heeding what parents especially godly parents would have us do that makes God to honour our obedient actions and bring an Increase upon our lives. Because, you see, the same woman who had scolded Jesus, who Jesus had obeyed, was the same one that pointed to him as one who could perform the miracle of turning water to wine which was Jesus’ first official miracle. The wine that was tagged the beat in the wedding party at Cana. (John.2:1-12)

You see, sometimes it’s not about your will but the release of the people that God has placed in your life to be guards over you.

Doors Do Open

Have you ever felt like you have exhausted all of your options and you can’t seem to find a way out?  Or you know that there is more that can be out of a case you are on? I can’t imagine what the widow whose husband left some debts for her to pay before he died must have gone through. Wait, you think all that happened is all there is. In the sense, you have pressed all your buttons and made all your moves. Knocked all the doors you know and made the calls. You now think its over. You think there’s no way out again? Be there! You seem to have forgotten so quick that God is the one that makes things happen. Look at the widow whose husband left her in debt. She was broke. No money no possession my sons up for sale kindof broke. Her two sons were going to be taken captive to pay for the debts that was on ground. Of course she was devastated. She had no possession to sell to get some money. The only thing she knew to do was to go meet Elisha who her husband served with. ...

Thankfulness

Life can get so boring, especially when you are fixed in a routine, and you're just at that point where all you want to do is break out. I mean, try out something out of the norm, like eat a different kind of food,or have a break from your stressful work,or simply get to see and relate with a whole new set of people. This was somewhat the case with the Israelites in Num11:31-35. Numbers 11:31-35- 31  Now a  wind went out from the  Lord , and it brought quail from the sea and left  them  fluttering near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground.  32  And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten  homers); and they spread  them  out for themselves all around the camp.  33  But while the  meat  was  still between ...

God's Speakings.

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: – Genesis 26:2 Isaac was one of those bible characters that had a life patterned after the voice of God. He was about to leave where he was resident for another country because of the famine they were experiencing in the country where he resided. However, his plan was interrupted by God's voice. I'm intrigued by the fact that God specifically said He will tell him where to dwell. This challenges me because I've had this desire and still desire to have that "hearing relationship" with God. I see this and believe God wants all His loved children to actually have that kind of relationship with Him. God wants to tell everyone of His sons and daughters something, however, not everyone is going to hear Him because not everyone has trained themselves to do so. All the time, for all situations in our lives, the Lord is willing to tell us something. The questio...
