Lesson five: Holding Your Peace!

Hmm,this one,its very easy to lose it!Like just like that!!
This one was the one I had to really dig my heels in to do-lol. What exactly is peace? Peace is calmness and tranquility. Its been 'still' even in the midst of a storm or turmoil.I came to realize that no matter how 'bam' you are, somethings you may not want happening will pop up someday. But then, things are to test and prove what we have got on the inside.I came to learn that Peace is one of the things Jesus gave us.Two bible verses really stood out for me.The bible says
"Peace I leave with you,my peace I give to you.I do not give to you as the world gives.Do not let your heart be troubled. And do not be afraid." John 14:27

This one helped me grow in faith;because I realized that, though Jesus left his peace with me,I have a role to play in enjoying that peace.Apparently,God is not ready to raise a lazy people. So you gotta fight for your peace any whole way you can.Having to hold my peace is one of those things God really taught me to do.There was this particular scripture that was my anchor, "Be still and know that He is God". It actually stuck with me as I listened to this song 'Still' by Hillsong'. Even when I kind of held my peace already,I still would listen to the song just to love some more on God.Its beautiful when even if nothing is wrong you still love on God. Going a little further;I sought to know what God's word really said about peace.Guess what caught my attention:

"Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything(every circumstances and situation) by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your (specific) requests known to God.And the peace of God(that peace which reassures the heart, that peace)which transcends all understanding,(that peace which)stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus(is yours)" Phil.4:6-7(amp).

It's not the firdt time I read this passage, yet it was 'WOWingly' refreshing.Yeah :). Sometimes the battles that go in out mind and disturb us are not the battles to fight. This is one of the hardest things to do as a child of God but it's important that  we are not ignorant of devices of the enemy. The truth is that our thought is the bridge between our peace and anxiety/worry.What goes on in the mind is key when it comes to holding your peace.I came to realize that the more of God's word I had in mind and I meditated on,the more I had more peace.
Trust me it was hard having to allow these words settle in my heart. It requires a real conscious effort;over and over again.
We may not be able to control what comes our way per time but we have to learn to control how we respond per time so we don't loose our peace.

I hope you'll be able to connect with some of these lines and grow your faith as well. :) Cheers!

Doors Do Open

Have you ever felt like you have exhausted all of your options and you can’t seem to find a way out?  Or you know that there is more that can be out of a case you are on? I can’t imagine what the widow whose husband left some debts for her to pay before he died must have gone through. Wait, you think all that happened is all there is. In the sense, you have pressed all your buttons and made all your moves. Knocked all the doors you know and made the calls. You now think its over. You think there’s no way out again? Be there! You seem to have forgotten so quick that God is the one that makes things happen. Look at the widow whose husband left her in debt. She was broke. No money no possession my sons up for sale kindof broke. Her two sons were going to be taken captive to pay for the debts that was on ground. Of course she was devastated. She had no possession to sell to get some money. The only thing she knew to do was to go meet Elisha who her husband served with. ...

Thankfulness

Life can get so boring, especially when you are fixed in a routine, and you're just at that point where all you want to do is break out. I mean, try out something out of the norm, like eat a different kind of food,or have a break from your stressful work,or simply get to see and relate with a whole new set of people. This was somewhat the case with the Israelites in Num11:31-35. Numbers 11:31-35- 31  Now a  wind went out from the  Lord , and it brought quail from the sea and left  them  fluttering near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground.  32  And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten  homers); and they spread  them  out for themselves all around the camp.  33  But while the  meat  was  still between ...

God's Speakings.

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: – Genesis 26:2 Isaac was one of those bible characters that had a life patterned after the voice of God. He was about to leave where he was resident for another country because of the famine they were experiencing in the country where he resided. However, his plan was interrupted by God's voice. I'm intrigued by the fact that God specifically said He will tell him where to dwell. This challenges me because I've had this desire and still desire to have that "hearing relationship" with God. I see this and believe God wants all His loved children to actually have that kind of relationship with Him. God wants to tell everyone of His sons and daughters something, however, not everyone is going to hear Him because not everyone has trained themselves to do so. All the time, for all situations in our lives, the Lord is willing to tell us something. The questio...
