Lesson One: Knowing 'your' God

There are 7.4 billion people on earth. Findings say adults make 35,000 decisions daily while babies make 3000 decisions(you didn't know that, did you?). About 3.2 billion fall within the age range of 15-44years of age.

Very few things bring life and excitement or enthusiasm like a new idea you think is so great. It could almost take all your attention and mind. You can almost have an 'action rush' , as you would go all the way out just to get your idea to come into reality. Note that an action rush is different from a 'steady build'. Like any other great thing in life, challenges, especially unprecedented will arise (many of them disrupting your plan!)

I came to realize that nothing beats a person who not just has an idea but knows God. I got to this point in 2015 where I just had to settle to really find my God and grow my faith.
What exactly does it mean to know God?
Knowing God is like enlarging your understanding of God and establishing a personal strong believe in God through a personal search of Him. Knowing God is not just about knowing His word but cultivating or building a relationship with Him. The truth is,several things begin to make sense to you- i.e the eyes of your understanding will begin to open,to even things you never unprecedented. This was especially helpful when I had my mind really clouded with so many things that did not fall in place for me. The truth is,its really hard to move on when things do not go your way, especially as a youth -its like an heart break.

Daniel.11:32b - '...but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.'

There's a kind of light every understanding of God's word brings to your life that helps you navigate life in a different way. Of the 7.4 billion people on earth, the truth is,no one is exactly the same i.e. everyone has their peculiarity. Knowing God literally brings you to a personal spot with God- such that you navigate life based on your peculiarity and His word really helps you by the HolySpirit to know how exactly to navigate life specifically for 'you'. Knowing God is getting to have a relationship with Him.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."Jere.1:5

There's something about understanding your peculiarity that gives you a particular poise and quickens your stallion spirit to live out life with every sense of courage and fulfillment. So that, regardless of the billions of people on earth, you can stand out to 'do you' in God's way. This arises only from a knowledge of yourself which is birth from a knowledge of God.
Truth: It takes time to get to that point where, regardless, you are unshaken, but keep at it.One day at a time, one step at a time.

I know its often said that we should know the word of God. The angle of knowing God I am talking about is taking Him more personally, beyond what wither your Pastor or even others say. Taking Him for every word he says about you. You be like ain't nobody got time for that? lol.
Oh yeah! Personally.

  • Getting to know God helps you to know you better.
  • Knowing God gives you courage to face your fear
  • No decision goes wrong with knowing God.
Psalm 16:11- You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

How to know God.
-Decide to
-Fix a particular time- its important to purposely fix a time for the study of the word or any other material that could bring you close to knowing God better. Else it can easily get shuffled off your to-do list.
-One day at a time- no matter how small you get in a day,it is okay for that day.Give yourself a pat on the back and look forward to the next day.
-Engage the HolySpirit by asking Him questions.
-Finally,Just do it.

I would like to know how your journey on knowing God has been :) . Let's catch-up at the comment bar.

Doors Do Open

Have you ever felt like you have exhausted all of your options and you can’t seem to find a way out?  Or you know that there is more that can be out of a case you are on? I can’t imagine what the widow whose husband left some debts for her to pay before he died must have gone through. Wait, you think all that happened is all there is. In the sense, you have pressed all your buttons and made all your moves. Knocked all the doors you know and made the calls. You now think its over. You think there’s no way out again? Be there! You seem to have forgotten so quick that God is the one that makes things happen. Look at the widow whose husband left her in debt. She was broke. No money no possession my sons up for sale kindof broke. Her two sons were going to be taken captive to pay for the debts that was on ground. Of course she was devastated. She had no possession to sell to get some money. The only thing she knew to do was to go meet Elisha who her husband served with. ...

Thankfulness

Life can get so boring, especially when you are fixed in a routine, and you're just at that point where all you want to do is break out. I mean, try out something out of the norm, like eat a different kind of food,or have a break from your stressful work,or simply get to see and relate with a whole new set of people. This was somewhat the case with the Israelites in Num11:31-35. Numbers 11:31-35- 31  Now a  wind went out from the  Lord , and it brought quail from the sea and left  them  fluttering near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground.  32  And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten  homers); and they spread  them  out for themselves all around the camp.  33  But while the  meat  was  still between ...

God's Speakings.

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: – Genesis 26:2 Isaac was one of those bible characters that had a life patterned after the voice of God. He was about to leave where he was resident for another country because of the famine they were experiencing in the country where he resided. However, his plan was interrupted by God's voice. I'm intrigued by the fact that God specifically said He will tell him where to dwell. This challenges me because I've had this desire and still desire to have that "hearing relationship" with God. I see this and believe God wants all His loved children to actually have that kind of relationship with Him. God wants to tell everyone of His sons and daughters something, however, not everyone is going to hear Him because not everyone has trained themselves to do so. All the time, for all situations in our lives, the Lord is willing to tell us something. The questio...
