THAT I MAY KNOW HIM 2: Jesus, the Possibilitarian

Last week, we started a study on Philippians 3:10  "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. We looked at Jesus as the "author" and "finisher" of our faith. That he who has started a thing in us is well able to bring it to past, and so we should rest in Him. This day, we see the person of Jesus from a story in the bible. Matt17:24 When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?” 25He said, “Yes.”And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?” 26Peter said to Him, “From strangers.”Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free.  27Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have...

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM 1: Author and Finisher

Philippians 3:10  "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;" This prayer was made by Apostle Paul and is a very deep one. We will focus on the first part of it- "that I may know Him" Jesus is a lot of things to a lot of people. Some know him on theory basis, while some have experienced his workings in their lives. Today, I will share about Jesus as the "author" and "finisher". Hebrews 12:2a New King James Version 2 " looking unto Jesus, the author and [b]finisher of our faith, " Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith. As one justified by God, the Lord says we should live by faith. meaning, taking steps based on what the written or the spoken word of God says. Now, when a believer takes steps in line with the word, things may not fall immediately in line as one would expect, and often times, because we are humans, we may begin to bother...

Treasures

Isiah45:3 {NLT} And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—     secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.  The word of God makes us to know that the earth, the world, as a whole is covered with darkness, according to Isaiah 60:2a - " See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, "  This automatically means that before anyone was born at all, the earth swam in darkness and so by default, we live in a world that is dark. But scripture says that light shines in darkness and darkness can't comprehend it. Jesus is this Light that shines in darkness. If you do not have Jesus in your life, I urge you to ask Him in now to be your Lord and Savior. The anchor scripture for today let's us into an important matter, that there are treasures hidden in this dark world, that only God can reveal to an individual. Now, this doesn't have to be some 22 karate gold piece, N...

ENGRAVENED

I’ve just come here to remind you,  that the Lord has your  face at the very palm of his hand, right in front of him.     Isiah 49:16 (NIV) ‘see I have engraven you on the palm of my hands, your walls are ever before me.’   Ah, when somebody says your walls are ever before me, this means they see all your extensions, everything that you are. More like, those parts of you that are really private(good and bad). those parts of you that you’d rather no one comes to mess up so that your peace can be very intact, those parts of you that you are just really seeking to understand. Those parts of you that you are really seeking meaning for. Those parts of you that you are unclear what the Father is saying. Those parts of you that you really can’t articulate into words. Those things you really need or desire that is just out of your reach for some reason or the other. Those hidden thoughts and desires. This wall ...

Walking with God

Enoch walked steadily with God. And then one day he was simply gone: God took him. Genesis 5:24 MSG We all want benefits or rewards, something to show for what we are doing. After an academic year,a student wants to see that he is promoted to the next level, after all the times of studying. A parent wants to be sure they are not wasting their resources in a school that's not yielding as much results as they want. So also in our walk with God,we want to have things to show for it. We seek to have a proof that we truly are on the Lord's side. This actually is powerful because it means we are not about to waste our time and energy in a fruitless effort. However, the lesson for today is a shift of our minds from the results  to the walk we are meant to have with God. The anchor scripture for today talks about Enoch, who, walked with God,and the result he got?- He was no more. How unfathomable are the results that we get from walking with God that we would be shottchanging oursel...

There is Hope for you.

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.  Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;  Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. Job 14:7‭-‬9 KJV We see from here that a man's Christian walk and life as a whole can be seen in the light of a tree. Today,I've brought a message of peace and hope by the reason of God's mercy. For there is hope for a tree, though it be cut down,it will spring forth again. When Christ was going to illustrate our relationship with the Father,he says in John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." We see that the Father prunes and cuts branches based on his assessment of what they are doing with their lifes and resources. He cuts off every branch in me that b...

Are You Asking Right?

Are you really focusing on the right things when you are asked to ask for what we want? I use to have a restrain in prayer before now. It was more like a subconscious one. Even though I have always known that God is able to do ALL things,I often catch myself doubting when it comes to asking for certain things~ BIG THINGS . For some reason,it seemed they were too big for me to ask him. I guess I just felt they were too big for me to have. But I know better now. I realised that God didn't just say 'Ask and it shall be given unto you....' in Matthew 7:7 He said to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 33:3- 'Call unto me,and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not' God was literally defining the things he wanted Jeremiah to ask for... great things and mighty . God was telling him that in as much as there are things which seem great and mighty to him, that He ,God ,will reveal them to him if he asked him to. Daughter of God,Son if God, are you ...
